Research project: Characterisation of cue-dependent behaviour in plant parasitic nematodes: the neurobiology of host plant invasion
Plant parasitic nematodes are a major cause of crop losses and a threat to food security. Current chemical control of these pests causes unacceptable levels of environmental impact and toxicity. In this project we will provide a better understanding of how the nematode recognises and invades its host plant. This will inform the development of refined measures for crop protection.
