Development of an Ultra-High resolution optical microscope

Biological systems are exquisitely structured down to the nanometre scale but the tools to observe living tissue at this level are in their infancy. We have created a novel ultra-high resolution optical microscope, or Nanoscope, that uses visible light. Currently we are exploring the biological applications of the Nanoscope whilst further refining its resolution and increasing its flexibility to be used in different imaging modes. This project is funded by the EPSRC and is a collaboration with the University of St.Andrews, University of Bristol and RAL.
