Studying Pharmacology has given me the essential skills required to be an effective member of a team in both a research and non-research environment.

I wanted to study a degree that would encourage me to develop my scientific skills in a fast-paced research environment, leading to me choosing Pharmacology. Having stayed at the University of Southampton as part of an outreach project, I experienced first-hand the fantastic facilities and student life on campus, influencing my decision to study here.

I enjoy that everything you need is available on campus meaning you have access to areas to study or are able to grab a coffee at several of the cafés. The excellent teaching standards make it easy to develop your own ideas about the latest research areas. Access to academics is always available making it easy to discuss your progress and work through difficult concepts in a relaxed and exploratory setting. Support always starts with your tutor and they can advise you how to access any other services. The open access to lab facilities throughout my 3 years had enabled me to refine my laboratory techniques and research current topics of interest with support from academics working directly alongside me.

I’ve been an active member of SUSUtv since studying at the University of Southampton. There are always opportunities to get involved with throughout the year meaning it is easy to plan around studying and part-time work. The highlight of my time here has been meeting such a diverse group of people and making some friendships for life.

Studying Pharmacology has given me the essential skills required to be an effective member of a team in both a research and non-research environment. Once I graduate I aim to pursue a career in Marketing.
