The lecturers have been very supportive, helping me to develop my interests and the course has been extremely enjoyable.

I arrived at Southampton not sure what I was going to do but it’s been a great three years, the lecturers have been very supportive, helping me to develop my interests and the course has been extremely enjoyable. I was awarded a Faculty Gold medal at graduation because my marks averaged a minimum of 75 per cent throughout my degree.

In my third year I chose to do a long laboratory project with Professor Lindy Holden-Dye into the effects of alcohol on nematode worms.

I went for an internship at the end of my second year working with a professor at Southampton General Hospital. Our project involved using a protein to see how well patients were recovering after lung transplants. I want to stay in science, my ambition is to work in clinical trials.

It’s not only work, there are always plenty of activities to choose from at University, I’m interested in dancing and signed up to do ballet and tap and met a lot of great people.
