In particular, the new system will be used to proactively identify and work with students who may need additional support, identified by low attendance, and to check students are meeting any attendance requirements, for example for a professional qualification or for students in receipt of a Student Visa under the UK Visas &amp; Immigration (UKVI) route. There has already been considerable communication and support to staff and students, along with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sotonac.sharepoint.com\/teams\/MyEngagement\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">training videos and detailed guidance and information<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Additional support is now being provided to Schools where required, recognising previously different approaches to the practice of taking registers, and student ambassadors will also be providing support in large lecture theatres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"25\" data-list-defn-props=\"{&quot;335552541&quot;:1,&quot;335559684&quot;:-2,&quot;335559685&quot;:720,&quot;335559991&quot;:360,&quot;469769226&quot;:&quot;Symbol&quot;,&quot;469769242&quot;:[8226],&quot;469777803&quot;:&quot;left&quot;,&quot;469777804&quot;:&quot;\uf0b7&quot;,&quot;469777815&quot;:&quot;hybridMultilevel&quot;}\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">UEB were pleased to note that since last week\u2019s meeting we had seen formal public announcements that our University has climbed eleven places to 97<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> position globally in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/blog\/sussed-news\/2023\/09\/27\/university-of-southampton-named-in-world-top-100\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, our first time in the top 100 in this league table for more than 10 years; and that we have received a Silver rating in the latest <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/blog\/sussed-news\/2023\/09\/28\/university-awarded-silver-tef-2\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Teaching Excellence Framework<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (TEF), awarded by the Office for Students, which recognised our very high quality provision across all student groups, with some outstanding features. In a very busy week for announcements, our business and public engagement activities have again been recognised as amongst the best in England in the annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/blog\/sussed-news\/2023\/09\/27\/southampton-maintains-its-nationally-leading-strengths-in-business-and-public-engagement\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Knowledge Exchange Framework<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (KEF) results, in which we retained our top scores and are recognised as enabling \u2018high\u2019 or \u2018very high\u2019 engagement across all areas of assessment. This new facility provides specialist laboratories, workshops, office spaces and collaborative zones designed to support a range of industrial sectors.
