The letter reinforced the Government\u2019s support for academic freedom and freedom of speech within the law, but raised clear concerns around some specific incidents. UEB also heard that Universities UK (UUK) is closely monitoring the situation in discussion with members. We <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/blog\/sussed-news\/2023\/11\/08\/message-from-the-vice-chancellor-2\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">continue to encourage<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a truly inclusive community at Southampton that embodies the values and behaviours that unite us, and not divide us. Over the past year, the efforts have focussed on strengthening the foundations to deliver the RDC objectives and implementation plans. These included targeted investment in key staff roles across the pipeline of researcher career development; investment in Post-Doctoral Fellowships; establishing a wide range of resources and regular training opportunities for staff at all levels and contribution to the development and implementation of major strategic projects to address workforce casualisation, wellbeing, career pathways and workload principles.
