The Turing Scheme was launched by the UK Government in response to the UK\u2019s Brexit-related departure from the Erasmus+ scheme. It provides funding to support international study and work placements for students of between four weeks and 12 months in length, with a specific focus on support for students from widening participation backgrounds. Our bid represents mobility opportunities for nearly 400 students, and represents a 100% increase in scale on our grant allocation for 2021-2022. Bid outcomes are expected to be announced at the end of June. UEB thanked all those who have worked on the bid at short notice, including over the Easter break.<\/li>\n<li>UEB discussed an initial draft response to a consultation by the <strong>Future Research Assessment Programme <\/strong>(FRAP), launched last year following the completion of submissions to the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF), to explore the purposes of a future exercise, the principles that should guide its development, and the assessment criteria and processes. Further drafting will take place before formal submission. Separately, UEB noted that the <strong>REF 2021<\/strong> outcomes will be published in early May.<\/li>\n<li>UEB congratulated all those in our community who took part in last weekend\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/blog\/sussed-news\/2022\/04\/26\/celebrating-the-abp-southampton-marathon-in-style\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=staff_digest&amp;utm_campaign=26-4-2022\"><strong>ABP Southampton Marathon<\/strong><\/a>, and thanked those staff and students who were involved in creating a highly successful Celebration Campus event including live music and great food, as we welcomed runners through the Highfield campus to celebrate our 70<sup>th <\/sup>Anniversary.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, UEB noted the <strong>University Risk Register<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author: Shaun Williams, Executive Director Engagement and Advancement A relatively short meeting, after the extended Easter break, in which UEB discussed a number of strategic and operational issues: UEB approved the University\u2019s 2022\/23 Turing Scheme bid, which will now be formally submitted.
