Senior Enterprise Fellow in Accounting
Kat Hearn is a Senior Enterprise Fellow for the Department of Accounting within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton.
Kat joined the University in January 2022 to work in the Enterprise team where her focus is developing Executive Education programmes and pursuit of Southampton Business School’s accreditation with Athena Swan and the Small Business Charter. Her focus is on providing effective and useful training and education to businesses, and forging strong links between business and the University. Kat is passionate about embedding enterprise into the curriculum and working with students to ensure that they have the right skills needed to be successful in their future careers.
Kat is an experienced lecturer having preciously taught professional ICAEW examinations at Kaplan Financial (London) and on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the University of Greenwich where she also had oversight of the University’s relationship with professional bodies. Kat also was a leading member of the University of Greenwich team in securing their Small Business Charter award.
Prior to her career in Education, Kat qualified as an ACA accountant and auditor whilst working at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (Assurance, London) working on a wide variety of FTSE companies. She later seconded to PwC’s Technical Learning and Education department to deliver CPD training to UK staff. Her professional background and experience informs her teaching practice.
Kat holds a PGCE and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
