Dr Simonov Kusi-Sarpong PhD, MSc, MCIPS, FHEA
Lecturer in Operations Management

Dr Simonov Kusi-Sarpong is a Lecturer in Operations Management at the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton.
Simonov holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering with specialisation in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Dalian University of Technology, PR of China, and an MSc in Management with specialisation in Operations and Supply Chain management from The University of Liverpool, UK. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chartered Member (MCIPS) of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, UK, serves on the Editorial Board of the Journals, Resources, Conservation and Recycling; Frontiers and a reviewer for many reputable journals.
Simonov’s research has been published in some of the top-tier and leading journals such as International Journal of Production Economics; International Journal of Production Research; Production Planning and Control; Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice; Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review; Journal of the Operational Research Society; Industrial Management and Data Systems; Journal of Cleaner Production; Resources Policy; Journal of Modelling in Management; and Resources, Conservation and Recycling among others, with presentations at some prestigious conferences such as Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) annual meetings. His unique research and network combine academic rigour with transformational impact, particularly in developing countries such as Ghana, China, Iran, India, UAE, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Future researches will extend to cover other BRICS countries such as Brazil, Russia and South Africa.
Simonov has acted as a PhD external examiner for several prestigious international institutions such as Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, India and National College of Business Administration & Economics, Lahore, Pakistan.
Before Joining Southampton Business School, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth, UK.
Prior to academia, he worked for over a decade in various capacities in the operations and supply chain discipline; mostly from mining and mining support industries.
