Dr Bernard Bempong is a Teaching Fellow in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources at the Southampton Business School of the University of Southampton.

Bernard had his PhD in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources from the University of Southampton in 2015. He holds an MPhil degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology (1999), and also B.A. (Hons)(1993), both from the University of Ghana.

As a professionally trained teacher, Bernard has over 35 years teaching experience across the entire spectrum of the academic structure (from Primary School through Secondary School and College to Higher Education). Cumulatively, over 16 years teaching experience has been at the Higher Education level.

Research interests

Bernard’s research interests centre on how human dynamics and organisational factors influence work-place performance and productivity. Specifically research interests include leadership, organisational commitment, organisational culture, organisational climate, national culture, organisational conflict, and employee performance.

MPhil/PhD Research:

  • MPhil. Thesis - Conflict and Organizational Productivity, 1999. Supervised by Dr Robert Akuamoah-Boateng.
  • PhD Thesis – The Impact of Leadership and a Series of Organisational Factors on Employee Performance, – A Survey of Organisations in Ghana. 2014; Supervised by Professor Malcolm Higgs and Dr Melanie Ashleigh.
