Emir Ozeren is a Research Fellow within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton. He is an Assistant Professor of Management & Organisation in the School of Tourism, Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey.  He holds a PhD degree in Management from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Italy. His PhD thesis titled “Managing an (In)visible Form of Diversity in an Emerging Country Context: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Diversity Management Experience in Turkey” received “Excellent Cum Laude” (high honour, distinction) in January 2015.

His current research interests include equality, diversity & inclusion in the workplace, gender and Queer studies, critical management, organisational behaviour, social entrepreneurship and more recently sustainable and ecological tourism.

Prior to joining the University of Southampton in February 2017, he has worked as an Assistant Professor of Management & Organisation in the School of Tourism, Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey where he still continues to serve this position. He was previously a visiting researcher in the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED) in “Queen Mary” University of London where he delivered a seminar on sexual orientation equality within the context of Turkey to the wide audience of diversity management academics.

He has acted as the Vice Head of Department of Gender Studies at the Graduate School of Social Sciences in Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey between 2015 and 2017. He currently serves as an Editorial Board member for Journal of Career Development which is an international, renowned journal published by Sage on career development theory, research and practice

His current research interests include equality, diversity & inclusion in the workplace, gender and Queer studies, critical management, organisational behaviour, social entrepreneurship and more recently sustainable and ecological tourism.

Research projects

Title: Development of Agro/Eco-Tourism Entrepreneurship with Food Safety Practices: Evidence from South Aegean Region of Turkey,

Role: Dr Emir Ozeren is a post-doc Research Fellow in this project.

Dr Emir Ozeren is actively  involved in the Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Ecotourism
project funded by the British Council Newton Fund Institutional Links scheme. This is a multidisciplinary
research project, led by Southampton University and includes other partners. He works closely with all partners of this consortium. Dr Emir Ozeren is part of the research team at the Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation in the Southampton Business School.

The objectives of this research are to develop new research/evidence based knowledge pertaining to
agro/ecotourism entrepreneurship with food safety practices; to facilitate outreach to industry, policy makers and local communities in the region, and improve their entrepreneurial practices and management strategies; to develop learning and teaching resources in the field of entrepreneurship, food safety and sustainability; and to achieve social inclusion of disadvantaged groups in the local population in the partner country, Turkey. Throughout the project, Dr Emir Ozeren provides support for conducting the secondary and primary research to achieve said objectives. More specifically, he has carried out fieldwork in Turkey (in-depth interviews), undertaken data analysis and a review of evidence base (literature and policy documents) as well as writing up reports and publications.
