Mr Juan Carlos Moreno-Paredes is Research Fellow within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton.
Qualifications
Juan Carlos was awarded a degree in Applied Mathematics in 1995 and an MSc in Operational Research in 2004, both from the University Simon Bolivar (Venezuela). He was awarded an MSc in Risk Management from the University of Southampton (UK) in 2009.
Career overview
From 1996-2004, he worked for Movilnet Telecom (Verizon - Venezuela) as a Planning and Strategic Specialist, developing forecasting models and customer relationship management strategies.
From 2004-2011, he worked for Mercantil Financial Services as a Risk Analytics Specialist, developing credit scoring and rating models for credit risk management.
He has lectured in Data Mining and Credit Risk at University Simon Bolivar, Venezuela, at the Catholic University Andres Bello, Venezuela and at the University of Southampton (UK).
Juan Carlos has been a PhD student at University of Southampton since 2012 and he is now employed in the Centre for Risk Research as a Research Fellow on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project funded by ESRC, the Technology Strategy Board and London Capital Group. The research involves developing a model to predict the trading behaviour of individuals in spread trading markets.
