Dr Raquel Florez-Lopez is Research visitor within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton.

Raquel Florez-Lopez was appointed as an associate professor in Accounting and Finance at Pablo Olavide University of Seville (Spain) in August 2009. Previously she was employed as a researcher and lecturer at University of Leon (Spain), where obtained the degree of Doctor in Management and Finance (honours). Her dissertation on ‘Applying emergent techniques for credit risk management facing Basel II and Solvency II’ was awarded the 2007 Spanish Institute of Accounting and Auditing & Spanish Association of Accounting Professors Prize for outstanding the best Spanish dissertation in accounting and finance.

Research interests

Her research focuses on applying statistical methods (e.g. bootstrapping, bayesian models, MCMC) and Machine Learning models (ANN, SVM, fuzzy rules, decision trees, hybrid models), for business and risk management. Main research topics are credit risk, supply chain risk management, model selection issues, and risk in competitive markets. Member of the European Accounting Association, Spanish Association of Accounting and Management, Spanish Association of Accounting Professors, Management Control Association. Author of articles in international journals as Information Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Social Science Computer Review, and others. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of Technological Information (Informacion Tecnologica).
