Dr Serkan Ceylan is a senior academic within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton.

Serkan’s position at his previous university was as a senior lecturer in economics and business. His qualifications include business management studies in Germany (University of Hamburg/Lueneburg), a BA (Hons) and an MBA as well as a PhD with the title: Using Knowledge Transfer Partnership Projects to Reveal Latent Dynamics in the Knowledge-Based View of Strategy.

He is also a certified trainer for several project management qualifications and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Serkan has been a programme director for ACCA and MSc Project Management.

Serkan has experience in teaching various undergraduate, postgraduate as well as professional courses in the areas of project management, business and marketing, specialising in simulation and dynamic learning. 

Serkan's inspiring business acumen and international communication skills have generated contacts and courses for countries such as Germany, Austria, Turkey, Nigeria and China. In addition, he created the School of Business, Law and Communication project management system and workflow called eCAP using his PRINCE2 and Agile methodology skills as an approved practitioner.

Research, Enterprise and Advanced Professional Practice Outputs:

• PhD in the area of competitive theory and strategy formulation (Title: Using Knowledge Transfer Partnership Projects to Reveal Latent Dynamics in the Knowledge-Based View of Strategy)

• Keynote speaker for the innovation in project management symposium 2017 by the Association for Project Management (APM)

• Accepted by ProjMAN Conference 2015 (Portugal) for presentation and inclusion in the conference book. Title: Towards a Knowledge Based View of Project Management

• Lead academic and author for AgileFramePM (a knowledge-based view of project management) working with the International Project Management Consortium to develop this professional course. Also eligible for APM CPD points.

• Accountable for MSc Project Management validation (new course). The MSc Project Management course incorporates PRINCE2® and Agile Project Management ™ and is aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge which at the time was unique in the UK HE sector.

• Winner of the SSU Employability and Enterprise Award 2014 – Outstanding Staff Enterprise Initiative

• Lead Trainer for PRINCE2®; AgilePM™; AgileFrame

• Responsible for the application to achieve the prestigious ‘gold partner’ approval by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

• Responsible for achieving status as an Accredited Training Organisation for PRINCE2® and AgilePM™

• Responsible for writing the first two successful (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) KTP bids for Solent University (under the Vice Chancellors Office). Also managed two KTPs for another institution. Total Value £200,000

• Key Speaker for the 2011 Business in the Community Awards. Topic: SoFair – Social Enterprise

• Academic Leader for the Solent University Social Enterprise - SoFair

• Responsible for writing the successful ERDF bid and securing £150,000

• Responsible for re-writing the enterprise strategy of an initially failing bid and securing just under £1,000,000 under HEIF for three years

• Responsible for securing £167,000 for the Economic Challenge Investment Fund (ECIF)

• Presented on various Solent Exchange conferences

• Set up the first ‘Knowledge Exchange’ project with universities in Nigeria (transferring UK best practice) as a leader and project manager for the first six programmes attracting more than 50 different Nigerian Universities

• Set up the first ‘Knowledge Exchange’ project with universities in China. This programme attracted more than 100 delegates over three years
