Dr V L Raju Chinthalapati is a Lecturer in Finance within the Business School at the University of Southampton.
Raju has research background in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics and computer science. Raju’s main research objective is bridging the gap between computer science and social science by developing computational techniques and software tools and brining more scientific approach to economics and finance. Raju’s research focus is on 1) understanding the market microstructure, the associated liquidity risk in high frequency financial markets, 2) understanding the implications of contagion on systemic risk and stabilisation in interconnected financial markets and 3) developing algorithms for big data analysis in finance. On practical side, Raju is interested in developing software tools for 1) algorithmic trading, 2) risk monitoring 3) financial analytics and 4) forecasting.
Raju holds a PhD degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to his studies at LSE, he obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer (Finance) in the Business School, University of Greenwich, London and worked for Deutsche Bank, London as FX strategy researcher
