The MBA encouraged me to take a broader approach to looking at and solving problems.

What made you select the University of Southampton?
The proximity to my place of work and the enthusiasm of the teaching staff at the open day for the MBA.

What is Southampton like as a place to study?
Southampton was a very good place to study. There were plenty of resources.

What did you enjoy about the course?
I liked the course material and the chance to meet students from other industries.

What opportunities did you take up that really added value to your experience as a student?
I made good use of the resources, such as the library and online materials.

How did your studies and experience at Southampton shape your future?
They encouraged me to take a broader approach to looking at and solving problems. I learnt to not just go with what I think I know, but to do research and talk to others to find alternative viewpoints.

When you graduated what was your ambition and do you feel you’ve achieved it?
My ambition was to be in a position to take over sourcing & supply at Ericsson TV.

Tell us about your current role.
Head of Sourcing & Supply Ericsson TV

What future ambitions do you have?
My future ambition is to achieve a senior executive role within operations or the wider business; not just in the supply chain.

What advice would you give to a student starting their degree at Southampton?
Get stuck in! The more you engage in the course and university experience the more you get out of it.

What tips would you give to current students looking to start a career in your sector? What could you be doing now to make yourself more employable when you graduate?
Supply chain is a really interesting field and there are many different parts to it, for example manufacturing and outsourcing within different industries. Be prepared to go and find out what interests you and why it could offer you a career. Go to industry shows and conferences to find out what is going on and who are the key players. You can even try and get a slot speaking at such events as they are a great shop window where lots of companies come together.
