My time during my programme at Southampton helped me to understand how to better position myself at the intersection of technology, business and management. I gained significant subject knowledge expertise, as well as a better understanding of how to transfer and relate skills set in corporate environments.

Why did you choose to come and study at Southampton?

I was thrilled to join a university with a great reputation within the United Kingdom and internationally as well. The membership of Southampton within the Russell Group was an indicator to the overall quality of academic and non-academic activities within the university.

What were your Southampton ‘highlights’?

●     Living within the Glen Eyre Halls was a special experience

●     Building relationships and friendships with colleagues from various parts of the globe

●     Celebrating holidays and festivals with colleagues from various nationalities

What other activities did you take advantage of while at University?

●     Active involvement in the activities of the Afro-Caribbean society

●     Working a student job with the Saints (Southampton Football Club)

What did you enjoy most about your course?

With the growth in positive business value generated by the implementation of Information systems, the KISM programme provided me with academic insights and experiential application which have since positioned as an advocate and value contributor for IT and business strategy alignment in my career.

What have been the highlights of your career to date?

As an in-house strategist, I served as a bridge between business and technology executives, helping to create a better enterprise business-IT strategic fit at Capital Express Assurance. As part of the Strategy team delivering a digital business transformation project, I led Business process management efforts delivering streamlined business workflows within four strategic business units of Capital Express. In my current role as Analyst at Neos Consulting, I am leading research efforts into launching our in-house Robotic Process Automation consulting services to our financial services and insurance clients.

How did your time at Southampton help you to grow as a person and help you get to where you are now?

Prior to my time at Southampton, I had been fascinated by a career in management or strategy consulting. My time during my programme at Southampton helped me to understand how to better position myself at the intersection of technology, business and management. I gained significant subject knowledge expertise as well as a better understanding of how to transfer and relate skills set in corporate environments. My time at Southampton also helped me gain a greater appreciation for the impact and value of Southampton Football Club to the Southampton community.

What advice would you give to a student starting their degree at Southampton?

Southampton is a beautiful, cosmopolitan and friendly city. To all incoming students, take full advantage of faculty, colleagues, the amazing infrastructure investments by the university to enhance academic and non-academic experiences. The people are exceptionally warm and hospitable. Immerse yourself in the city life, visit exciting tourist destinations and develop lifelong friendships.

What tips would you give to current students looking to start a career in your sector?

Establish a strong presence on LinkedIn. Create connections with people who have had or are currently taking the same career path. This is a great way to build up a professional network and stay informed on latest developments within the career field.
