Global shipping agency Cargill Ocean Transportation sought our help to develop the skills of its staff up to masters degree level.

Southampton Business School worked closely with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers to devise certificate-level modules that could be delivered on site at Cargill's offices in Geneva and Singapore. The University's Institute of Maritime Law was also involved in delivering this programme.

While changes in the company situation meant that we could not move to the next phase, it was planned that staff would take modules selected by the company from the University of Southampton’s MBA programme to earn a diploma; some would then go on to write a dissertation for their masters degree.

“This exclusive programme was aimed at providing Cargill with a competitive advantage through developing its staff,” says Professor Douglas Macbeth. “We analysed the company’s requirements and drew up programmes of study to address all staff needs.”
