Lift company Stannah makes sure its managers are well-equipped to succeed by enrolling them on the University of Southampton MBA.

The Andover-based business has sent several of its senior staff to take part in this comprehensive and challenging part-time business development programme which includes the completion of an in-depth project on their company. Direct links with industry ensure Southampton academics have up-to-the-minute knowledge of the business world in the region and beyond.

Alastair Stannah, Managing Director of Stannah Lifts, says: “Our group is very committed to developing our people. Gaining external perspectives on the company and learning best practice from elsewhere is invaluable for our managers. They now look at their ‘day job’ with fresh eyes.”

He adds that the knowledge and skills gained through the MBA have been particularly useful for one manager who now runs the Microlifts division and puts the business theory into practice every day. “Focusing on professional development for your people will give your company that vital edge,” he says.
