Expert Services

Bring our expert advice and support to your company.

Southampton Business School academics are at the cutting edge of their subject. You can engage our staff to work directly with your company or organisation on a consultancy basis, contributing their skills as and when they are required. We are of course always happy to work on a confidential basis.

The University can handle all the paperwork and other arrangements to make sure you get the results you want from your consultancy with us. Get in touch to arrange an informal conversation to explore the possibilities.

Leading through worldwide connections

Based in an institution ranked among the top 100 of universities globally, Southampton Business School provides a transformational educational experience in a supportive environment.

Our students learn with some of the world’s top academics. Through our wide range of business placement opportunities, they have the chance to solve real-world problems as part of their degree.

We provide a suite of thought-provoking and relevant courses to challenge and empower, spanning digital marketing, health, engineering and law.

Global connections

Our 322 partnerships with institutions in 54 countries worldwide allow our students the chance to gain a truly global education. Southampton Business School builds on these strong links to provide a world-class, relevant education that seamlessly integrates theoretical study and real-world practical experience.

Our network of 26,000 business and law graduates spans 141 countries worldwide.

A connected reputation

We connect with companies all around the world to provide high-quality, relevant solutions to real-world problems. Through our strategic partnerships, we challenge the status quo and enable our passionate and inquisitive researchers to change the world.

We have well-established partnerships with local, national and international businesses that include the NHS, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Bank of England, JP Morgan and IBM.

Professor Julia Bennell is one of our experts in operations management and management science. Through research and outreach activities, Julia and her colleagues have fostered a large number of collaborations with businesses including: Ford, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Lloyds Bank, Barclaycard, Air Traffic Control Services, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Virgin Media and the Ferrari F1 team.

Many organisations have benefited from working with our leading academics like Julia. Software company Logical Transport is just one example; it took part in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University and the project led to Logical Transport winning a contract with National Express.

Academics from a wide range of disciplines can work directly with your company or organisation, bringing in further expertise from within or outside the University as required.

Dr Andrew Stainton has developed the LIAISE interactive software computer simulation.

Research partnerships

We are keen to engage with real business problems and your support is needed to make this possible. In some cases all we need is a letter of support to the effect that a planned research project is important to you and you will be involved in some way - interviews, advisory or review meetings for example. Other research partnerships can take the form of focus groups or topic discussions under the Chatham House rule. Confidentiality will always be respected. We can be as flexible as you need.

Professional development and training

Southampton Business School has a comprehensive range of programmes for companies and individuals, from undergraduate degrees, masters degrees in many business disciplines, the MBA and the Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA). Short courses and programmes can be developed for your company, either as part of our existing degree structures or on a bespoke basis. Rolls-Royce and Cargill Ocean Transportation are among organisations that have chosen this option.
