More than 150 enthusiastic University of Southampton Masters’ students packed out a recruitment and networking event on 1 November to hear more about opportunities with some of the UK’s leading companies.

All of the students in attendance are studying analytical courses at Southampton Business School or Maths Operational Research.

The popular lunchtime session was organised by the Centre for Operational Research Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS) to give postgraduates studying advanced analytical subjects an idea of the range of careers they could aim for.

Representatives from companies taking part, including British Airways, Zurich, Deloitte Analytics, Royal Mail and Capgemini Consulting, were all keen to meet potential employees and find out more about their interests and ambitions. Several Southampton alumni were among the recruiters on campus.

Current student Catalina Moreno (BAMS) from Columbia said:

“I worked as an analyst back home but chose to come to the University of Southampton to extend my knowledge. I’m enjoying my studies, especially finding trends in the data and I’m interested in applying to companies like Zurich when my course is over.”
