Events blog: Exploring the neuroscience of engagement and productivity
Senior managers and leaders from across the region joined students and staff at the latest Southampton Business School evening seminar.
Hosted by Tom Flateau from Teamworking International, the session challenged the 130-strong audience to examine their own mindsets and beliefs to empower their lives. “Neuroscience research has proved if we harness people’s potential, we can double their productivity,” he says.
The Business School runs a series of monthly events focusing on a range of topical and relevant business topics. This seminar was so popular, organisers had to change the venue to accommodate everyone who wanted to be there.
Tom’s top tips included:
· Emotions are five times stronger than logic – 80 per cent of decision making is based on emotion
· Whether you believe you can or you can’t – you’re probably right (Henry Ford)
· Intelligence and ability are not fixed traits - no matter where you start, you can always change substantially
