MANG2003 Financial Accounting students present to PwC
Second year students on the MANG2003 Financial Accounting module, recently completed a group assignment, which led to an inspiring visit to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).
The students' task was to analyse three listed companies from the same industry, compare, and contrast financial and non-financial information to decide whether to make a £50 million investment in one or all of the companies. The assignment gave the students practical experience to appreciate and apply the knowledge they had acquired throughout the semester in reading and analysing the financial statements of the FTSE 100 companies.
The top five groups were invited with Anita Krishnan, Module Leader and Director of Undergraduate Programmes, to present their assignment to a PwC panel on 20 February. PwC awarded prizes to three overall winners. The PwC judging panel said:
"It was great to see the effort the students had put in to prepare their presentations and rehearse their subject matters. All of the groups were very good and those that came first and second stood out particularly. We particularly enjoy the challenge as it requires students to apply their studies to commercial or economic factors that are affecting businesses; a skill we look for in our applicants."
