Events blog: Business coach reveals top tips to be more successful

Published: 30 March 2018

Steve Jones from Skills for Business outlined some simple yet effective techniques to increase revenue through outclassing the competition at the latest University of Southampton Business School evening seminar.

How can you position your company in the marketplace to make more profit and earn more money?

Business people, students and staff in the audience learned several practical tips to make 2018 their best-ever year.

Steve was part of the management team of Fitness First PLC, who grew from one club on the south coast of England, to become the largest independent health club chain in the world – all in a seven year period; he is now a successful coach advising on strategy, leadership, motivation, personal effectiveness and business growth.

“If you run a business, you have to get inside the mind of your client, focus on their perception and find out what they think of you and your rivals to understand how to position yourself,” advises Steve. “What makes you different to your competitors and are you better than they are? Be prepared to rethink your business model if it isn’t working.”

Every month, the Business School schedules a thought-provoking evening seminar with an inspirational speaker from industry or the academic world, admission is free by registration through EventBrite.
