On 16th February 2022 a group of students from ONCAMPUS visited University of Southampton Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS).

ONCAMPUS teaches pre-university programmes leading to a wide range of undergraduate and Master's degrees at leading universities across the UK (including Southampton) as well as the USA and mainland Europe.

This visit afternoon was organised by Elodie Sprenger (Country Development Manager, Responsible for UK International, University of Southampton International Office and contact link for ONCAMPUS ), and Rui Luo (Progression Officer at ONCAMPUS Southampton ).

The visit afternoon began with an engaging quiz and an introduction to University of Southampton and the FSS by Dr Rob Angell, our Associate Dean International (ADI), FSS. Students had lot of fun guessing key information about the university.

This was followed by two informative sessions on the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences (ESPS) by Dr Jan Podivinsky (Director of Internationalisation (DOI)), ESPS, and Southampton Business School (SBS) by Professor Stephan Onggo DOI, SBS.

After, a number of student ambassadors, including Praise Abah (BSc Accounting & Finance) & Jingzhong Chen (PhD in Law) shared their experiences, tips and journeys as International students at FSS and answered students’ questions.

This session was followed by an informal Q&A session where all colleagues, as well as Song Pan Utz (Senior Executive Officer, Faculty of Social Sciences International Office (FIO) & Miriam Gomez Lopez (International Officer, FIO) answered any questions students had and talked further about the opportunities at FSS. The visit day concluded with a campus tour with all the student ambassadors, Elodie, Kimberly & Rui.

Song Pan Utz said: “it was very nice to meet the first ONCAMPUS cohort, and talk to the students and colleagues in person. It has been a while since we were able to do a similar session in person”.

Dr Rob Angell said: “I am hopeful and excited to see more sessions like this happening in person in the near future. I have certainly missed having this type of interactive in-person sessions, it certainly has been a while…! It was delightful to connect with students and colleagues again in person!”

Thank you, Elodie, Kimberly & Rui for organising this visit day, to our DOIs and to the rest of colleagues involved on the ONCAMPUS visit day.
