Post the general elections in 2014, there are significant visible changes happening in India. The sleepy economic giant has suddenly woken up to the new possibilities of growth and innovation. This talk would feature the experiences of a technocrat who is leading innovation agenda in state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The lecture will be a reflection on his dealing with public servants and breaking the “bureaucratic” glass ceiling. This discussion would be useful for scholars and students who are interested in learning more about India and those interested in how to deal with polity.

Brief Bio: Dr Nikhil Agarwal is currently working as CEO Innovation, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He is one of India's leading innovation experts in the public policy domain. In past, he has served as high-level-advisor to United Nations Global Alliance on ICT & Development (UNGAID); board member at World-Entrepreneurship-Forum and Open Mind Foundation respectively. He was the first Asian to be elected as Co-Chair of prestigious Internet Society Advisory Council (ISOC-AC) for 2008-10. His interviews and work has been extensively covered in international media including HBR, Forbes, CNN Money, BBC Radio, and The New York Times. He has travelled extensively around the world and worked with global institutions, corporations and multinationals. He writes his column “Snake Charmer” in Times of India (TOI) and Economic Times (ET). Dr Nikhil Agarwal is alumnus of the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
