The MBA programme has international recognition and the range of lecturers and course content was exactly what I was looking for.

Why did you choose to come and study at Southampton?

Southampton is a great Russell Group University with a fantastic business school. The MBA programme has international recognition and the range of lecturers and course content was exactly what I was looking for.

What were your highlights at Southampton?

The trip to Maastricht to learn about cross cultural intricacies within business was definitely a highlight. As well as bringing the cohorts together as a group it gave us an opportunity to see businesses and speak with business leaders in a hands-on, international context.

What did you enjoy most about the Southampton MBA?

The size of and engagement of the classes. Everyone was able to voice their views, share their personal experiences and learn from each other. It was a varied and interactive learning environment.

What have been the highlights of your career to date?

Starting my own business and being able to test best practice business principles in real world environments.

How did your time at Southampton help you to grow as a person and develop your career?

Taking a year out from work and being in an environment that encourages you to reflect and assess yourself really helped me to create a more objective view of my own strengths and weakness. The MBA encourages an understanding of people in order to be a good manager. Knowing how to manage, interact with and bring the best out of yourself, as well as those around you, is a really invaluable lesson.

What advice would you offer to someone looking to study the Southampton MBA programme?

Enjoy being out of your comfort zone. Being a student is a rare opportunity to experience a wide range of things, make mistakes, be uncomfortable and really challenge yourself. Doing this helps you to discover where your real strengths lie.
