Why did you choose to study at Southampton?

What is it like studying here?

There are two words to sum up studying here: Interesting and Challenging. The MSc Risk Management at Southampton widens your understanding of the practices of risk. Before I came here, I only linked risk to financial uncertainty. Now I am able to distinguish the complexities of this science.

What are you enjoying most about your course?

The lecturers are experts in their field. The amount of information professionals can provide is immeasurable. Teaching is more than just reading slides and providing examples; lecturers at the University of Southampton provide real-life knowledge.

Have you taken advantage of any extra opportunities outside of your course?

Besides being involved in societies and their activities, I was able to attend several seminars provided by the Centre for Risk Research. This opportunity allowed me to explore the ongoing practices of risk management in the real world.

What have been your Southampton highlights so far?

Making new friends from different nationalities makes you appreciate how large the world we are living in is. Moving to the UK for a postgraduate year is by far the best decision I have made.

How has your time at Southampton helped you to grow as a person?

The challenge of moving to a new country allows you to build your personality by replying on yourself more than ever. I thank the University for me discover my passion for cooking.

How do you rate facilities at the University?

The Hartley Library is HUGE; 4 floors of books and history. Quiet study areas are always available and controlled by the Library team. You may also benefit from the study areas provided by the Halls of Residence.

What is the city of Southampton like to live in?

What I love about Southampton is its large green spaces and its transportation facilities. You can also find more green spaces in the New Forest which is close by.

To engage in more conversations with your lecturer; they are here to share their knowledge and you are here to receive it.
