The University provides an environment for growth, broad knowledge and a boost of confidence. Each lecture has pushed me mentally, and that has allowed me to develop skills such as critical thinking and decision making.

Why did you choose to study at Southampton?

The University of Southampton checked all of my criteria for; a taught project management programme, high academic rankings and friendly environment, and its various sports programmes.

What is it like studying here?

The University provides an environment for growth, broad knowledge and a boost of confidence. Each lecture has pushed me mentally, and that has allowed me to develop skills such as critical thinking and decision making.

What are you enjoying most about your course?

Within the masters programme, there is a high international presence of students from across the globe. This diversity brings new ideas, perceptions, thoughts and backgrounds into the classroom, and provides a unique and fresh academic collaboration.

Have you taken advantage of any extra opportunities outside of your course?

Through the MSc programme, I had the opportunity to take part in the Association for Project Management (APM) University Challenge. This challenge provided me with the opportunity to host a TEDx Talk on campus along with four fellow MSc Project Management classmates. The most rewarding takeaway from this experience was the practical application of course material to execute a project of such magnitude.

What have been your Southampton highlights so far?

To tie in the previous answer, hosting the TEDx Talk was one of the most rewarding experiences within my undergrad and postgrad study. Being able to organise and execute a talk of this size, on a campus this renowned was truly an unforgettable journey.

How has your time at Southampton helped you to grow as a person?

As a postgraduate student, the personal and academic independence has allowed me to grow as a person. The PG modules place heavy emphasis on independent study, and this requires the need for self-motivation and time management skills to cope with the level of work. By translating these skills into my day-to-day life, this has allowed me to shape my personal and professional values.

How do you rate the study facilities at the University?

There are so many resources around campus to help make your time at University as stress-free as possible. Whether it is studying at one of the many locations on campus, or relieving stress at the Jubilee Sports Centre - there are great facilities to work and relax.

What is the city of Southampton like to live in?

Getting around Southampton is easy and convenient with the Uni-Link bus pass. The frequent transportation links from residence to campus, and into the city, is timely and makes for a great way to explore Southampton. There are plenty of things to do in the city whether it is shopping at West Quay Shopping Centre, walking around the city's parks or catching a Premier League game at St Mary's Stadium.

What are your plans and/or ambitions after you graduate?

Following graduation, I would like to start my career in the the UK by working within the marketing and project management fields - combining my UG and PG degrees. In the long-term, my aim is to utilise my skills and experience by starting a consultancy company back home in Bermuda.

What advice would you give to a student starting their degree at Southampton?

Take advantage of every opportunity! There are so many resources and ways to get involved academically and socially.
