Why did you choose to study at Southampton?

The University of Southampton was one of the best Universities in the UK for my course and it offered subjects to my liking. Secondly, Southampton is one of the safest cities to live in.

What is it like studying here?

Southampton feels very homely, and it did not take me very long to adjust here. Everything is within a few minutes of travel. Coming to the course and lecturers, I think they are really good. It is a very safe place to live in. Also, the varied communities that students come from is worth mentioning. It gives us an opportunity to learn different cultures and mingle with people with all kinds of perspectives.

What are you enjoying most about your course?

Some of the lecturers are very friendly and quite experienced in their fields. It is great that we can interact with them and learn so much. They are very approachable and give honest advice.

Have you taken advantage of any extra opportunities outside of your course?

I have spoken a lot to the peer advisors and taken guidance where required. Also, I will definitely want to be able to obtain an external summer project with the help of the facilities that the University provides.

What have been your Southampton highlights so far?

My best experience would be that we can get help very easily. People are always ready to talk and help out the best they can. I also like the co-curricular activities that are held in the Red Brick area on campus.

How has your time at Southampton helped you to grow as a person?

I have definitely grown as a person. I have learnt to manage my time better, focus on studies and take control of several living factors at the same time. There has been an immense increase in the knowledge that I have gained from being here in the past few months.

How do you rate the study facilities at the University?

The study facilities are great, in fact they couldn't have been better. We have access to everything that we require. The library usually has the books required too.

What is the city of Southampton like to live in?

The city is quite calm and composed and it is very welcoming. The bus facilities are great, since you are connected to every part of the city.

What are your plans and/or ambitions after you graduate?

Once I have done my masters, I hope to get a good job that justifies all the hard work I have put in this year. I will definitely try to get a job in the UK and if that does not work out, then I will head back to my home country.

What advice would you give to a student starting their degree at Southampton?

Make a wise choice with the subjects that you choose, as this will determine what your life will look like post degree. Make sure you take maximum advantage of the facilities that the University provides, in terms of career guidance and co-curricular activities.
