Marios is a 3rd year Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk, under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Beullens and Dr. Jonathan Klein.

Marios works towards a 4-year fully funded industrial case project, in collaboration with BAE Systems company. His main research interest lies in the field of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which is a well-established non-parametric benchmarking practice for measuring and evaluating multiple Decision-Making Units. In particular, he aspires to make novel methodological contributions on DEA and Network DEA (which is a branch of DEA that examines more complex production systems), towards the exploration of a fairer ranking framework. To this end, Marios not only utilizes quantitative techniques that already exist in literature, but also makes efforts to formulate new mathematical models based on the existing ones.

On top of that, he is an Associate Fellow in the Advance Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and has been working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Southampton since 2018. Teaching applied Operational Research (OR) and optimization approaches to undergraduate and master students, is essentially his passion.

Prior to commencing his Ph.D. studies, Marios was awarded a first-class honour in the BSc of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia (Greece), and graduated with an MSc in the mathematically oriented program of Business Analytics at Lancaster University (UK).
