100 Big Ideas
SEED Fund Supported by Santander Universities

Applications for the 100 BIG IDEAS competition have now closed. We are excited to have announced the winners on Wednesday, 29 April 2020. Watch the announcement video and read more about the ideas!

This opportunity was brought to you by the Student Enterprise team and proudly supported by Santander Universities.

All of us in the Student Enterprise team believe that anybody can have a good idea.

We also believe that the University of Southampton's students should be acknowledged for their novel thinking and creative talent.

We acted on these beliefs by offering all students (undergraduate and postgraduate) the chance to win £100, simply for sharing their idea...

Have you been sitting on an idea that could be worth sharing? An innovative new product or service? An app or a website that doesn’t yet exist? A novel approach to solving a common problem? Or a new way of tackling an issue that matters to you and your friends? Or perhaps an idea about how to help vulnerable communities?

Well now is your opportunity to share it…submit your idea and be in with a chance of winning £100! Not only that, if you would like to develop your idea further, we will take you through the practical next steps to take it forward and make a difference, which could even lead to further funding prizes if you would like to progress it. And all winners will become University of Southampton Big Idea Fellows.

Please note that within the application process there is both a public and private summary (allowing applicants to be selective regarding the information that is publicly shared).

We would love to see applications from all students (undergraduates and postgraduates) and from all subjects of study.

It’s that simple.

In the application form, you will need to provide:

- Name, student ID, university email address, degree title

- Name/title of Big Idea, brief summary of Big Idea (100 words), more detailed description of Big Idea (300-500 words)

- Accompanying image (sketch, info-graphic, photo or any other visual representation of your idea)

- Any additional documentation (optional)

Individual or team applications are welcome. If applying as a team, one of you will need to be the designated applicant. There will be a field provided in the application form for you to enter the names and email addresses of your team members - your application will be received as a team application as long as this field is completed.

 Selection Process:

- Your idea will be judged by the selection panel from your own faculty
