Employability Essentials Programme

Our Employability Essentials Programme consists of skills workshops that provide the opportunity to find out how you can stand out from the crowd at each stage of the recruitment process.

We understand that students will be at different stages in their career planning and so have created a set of workshops that can help you at any stage of the process.

Please note: You may find it useful to attend the Discover sessions first, however this is not a requirement for the Explore sessions.

Ask the Adviser - Application Support (1 hour)

These small group sessions provide you with the chance to work on your own CV/covering letter/application or personal statement with the support of an adviser. If you would like to book, come along to our Drop-in Service where we can help you get started.

Cracking Online Tests (45 minutes)

This workshop explains what psychometric tests are, why they are used, and provides advice and tips to maximise your performance. You'll get the chance to practise some example questions and find out more about resources you can use to help you prepare.

Surviving Assessment Centres (2.5 hours)

Join this interactive workshop to get practical experience of common assessment centre exercises. The session will specifically focus on role-play scenarios, in-tray activities, situational judgement tests and group presentation tasks.

Using LinkedIn Effectively (45 minutes)

LinkedIn is an on-line professional networking site which brings together communities of professionals across the world. Used well, it is a powerful tool for finding opportunities and for employers to find you!

This interactive workshop covers;

  • Our top tips on how to use LinkedIn effectively
  • Time for you to work on your own LinkedIn profile with support and guidance from our adviser
  • Advice on how to search for opportunities
