10,000 Black Interns

10,000 Black Interns seeks to offer 2,000 internships each year for five consecutive years. They have partnered up with firms from 24 different sectors, delivering internships across a range of internal business functions. Each internship offered presents the opportunity to change a life. Each interview offered provides invaluable experience and each training session can genuinely change an individual’s trajectory.

The programme will take place in summer 2022, but applications will be open from August-October 2021. During the application process, you will be able to choose three sectors of interest you wish to apply for. Comprehensive training will be given before you begin. 10,000 Black Interns Careers Fair

The 10,000 Black Interns Virtual Career Fair is running from Monday 28 June – Thursday 15 July. Join the 24 live, recorded webinars with professionals from the UK industry-leading firms. The webinars will be 45 minutes long, and will run twice each day at 16.30 and 17.30.  

You can register for any number of sessions and are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to prepare yourself for the 10,000 Black Interns application, which will ask you to select three sectors of interest.

Candidates who are Black African, Black Caribbean and/or Black British candidates (who may or may not require visa sponsorship) that are:

  • studying at/or recently graduated from (2018 onwards) a UK university at undergraduate or post graduate level or:
  • aged 18 and over who have completed their A-levels and who are on a gap year with the intention of undertaking higher education.

The 10,000 Black Interns programme will offer paid work experience across a wide range of sectors each year, providing critical training and development opportunities.

When you apply, you will be asked to select three sectors of interest. Once you are successful, you will be invited on a comprehensive training programme to get you ready for your position. This training programme is called ‘Mt Kilimanjaro’.

The training will include:

  • Interviews with some of the industry’s most successful leaders – their stories: the failure and the success.
  • Webinars explaining the inner workings of the industry – delivered by industry experts who will talk through everything you need to know.
  • Panel discussions with successful Black people currently working in asset management – how to make the most of your internship and increase the likelihood of securing a job offer.
  • An Online Training Program with essential modules to complete along with Lesson Plans
  • Mentor and Buddy sessions

The internships will then begin in summer 2022.

Applications for the Summer 2022 programme will be made in August 2021 (with an application deadline in October 2021); candidates for this programme will be selected by February 2022 at the latest, ahead of the start of pre-internship training.
