The current devolution settlement is 20 years old but, as the responses to COVID-19 have made clear, neither the culture and practice of the media, the language of politics, nor the machinery of government have evolved to reflect the constitutional reality.

This webinar will examine: changing views of an asymmetric union; UK (London) media coverage of devolved nations; the meaning of  'British' in different parts of the union; and the challenges of building a state in a multi-nation union. With growing tensions within the union, we'll ask whether constitutional reform could bring a better alignment between the practice and language of politics and the media and the distribution of power.
