Event details

Britain’s union state has facilitated the privatisation and financialisation of the economy. Globalisation has too often facilitated wealth extraction rather than productive investment. Although touching every part of the UK, these processes have gone furthest in an England that lacks the defined national government or devolved institutions that might have offered some resistance and an alternative approach. As each part of the UK is now developing its own distinct national politics, it is increasingly important to understand the political economy of England and what an alternative approach to its management might look like.
