Policymakers’ workshop - Recontact in mainstream genetics’ project Event

With the help of the Public Policy Unit, Dr Sandi Dheensa and Prof Anneke Lucassen organised a policymakers’ workshop in central London on 24 June to disseminate the findings from the ‘Recontact in mainstream genetics’ project—a collaboration with University of Exeter and Cardiff University. Attendees came from Genomics England, professional societies, and government, and included Dr Mark Bale from the Department of Health, who earlier this year visited the University of Southampton as a Policy Fellow to find out more about CELS’ work. The event inspired productive discussions about the key policy issues arising from this project and about how to implement the recommendations made into practice. We will be holding future meetings to have further conversations about this important project. The policy brief, designed for this event, can be downloaded below.
