Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

We are delighted to announce the establishment, following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), for the establishment of a CUHK-UOS Joint Laboratory for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine on October 13, 2016.

The Joint laboratory MOU was signed by President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, Sir Christopher Snowden and President and Vice Chancellor of Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Joseph Sung.

This Joint Laboratory builds on the close working relationships fostered over the last five years between The Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration (Professor Richard Oreffo) and School of Biomedical Sciences (Professor Kenneth Lee and Professor Wai Yee). This has included a series of joint visits between Faculty and ECRs, appointment of Prof Kenneth Lee (School of Biomedical Sciences CUHK) to a Diamond Jubilee International Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton in 2014 and a joint grant between Prof Kenneth Lee and Dr Rahul Tare ( CHDSCR) to study chondrogenesis and osteogenesis in murine skeletal development.

“I am absolutely delighted with this development that will further enhance our close working research relationship between both Universities and the opportunities for ECR and PG training that will follow” Prof Richard OC Oreffo; Director CHDSCR, Faculty of Medicine.
