First Student Exchange between CHDSCR and School of Biomedical Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong: Alia Hafiz
We welcome back Alia Hafiz (PhD candidate, Bone and Joint Research Group) to Southampton after six weeks spent in Hong Kong, as part of the Joint Laboratory for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine between the CHDSCR (University of Southampton) and the School of Biomedical Sciences (The Chinese University of Hong Kong). Alia reflects on her time in Hong Kong below.
“My six weeks visit to Professor Kenneth Lee’s laboratory at the Chinese university of Hong Kong (CUHK) was a unique research experience. I have gained tremendous exposure and excellent experience to the fields of biomaterials and stem cells 3D printing and developed the necessary skills and research tools which will help me further progress in my research project; harnessing a novel human Pluripotent Stem Cells source for cartilage regeneration. Professor Lee maintains a relaxed; yet hard working and productive work environment, all group members were welcoming, provided me with all the help and support during my training and I was very happy to be part of the team. I very much enjoyed my stay at the CUHK and enjoyed the beautiful attractions in Hong Kong, warm weather and delicious food!”
