Dr Gianluca Cidonio receives Italy Made Me award

On Monday 16 September, Dr Gianluca Cidonio was the successful recipient of the “Italy Made Me” 2019 award, presented at the Italian Embassy in London in recognition of scientific merit for his research at the UK at the University of Southampton.

"Italy Made Me” is awarded to researchers trained in Italian institutions undertaking research in distinguished universities in the UK.

Dr Cidonio’s project was recognised as outstanding and awarded by the Life Science panel for his PhD research (Novel 3D scaffolds for bone formation and cell printing) carried out in the Bone & Joint Research group under the supervision of Prof Richard Oreffo and Dr Jonathan Dawson. The Italian Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta and Materias CEO Caterina Meglio, awarded Dr Gianluca Cidonio from more than 40 other candidates, the award, recognising the value of his research and achievements within the Bone and Joint Research Group, at the University of Southampton.
