Ms Deeptee Horil Roy is a teaching laboratory technician in the School of Chemistry, University of Southampton.


Deeptee obtained a BSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of East Anglia in 2013, followed by an MSc by Research in Organic Chemistry in 2015 within the same University. She then worked as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, focusing on synthetic chemistry and drug discovery within the group of Professor Sir Alan Fersht (2014-2016). Following a Science PGCE course at the University of Southampton, she joined the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton in February 2018.


Deeptee contributes to the organization, demonstration and technical support of the student’s practical where she trains undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as visitors to the teaching laboratory through the provision of technical support and demonstration, especially in practical techniques and procedures. Additionally she takes care of safe and efficient use of equipment. She also runs the lab’s IR, NMR and MS analysis service and supports Outreach activities hosted by the teaching laboratories.
