Studying medicinal chemistry has undoubtedly enabled me to achieve my career ambition of working in drug discovery. As well as a varied teaching programme, an inspiring Summer School and subsequent placement at Pfizer linked my academic knowledge to working practice, and provided a clear view of my post graduation career path.

My Southampton MChem has provided a passport to a dynamic career that is both rewarding and enjoyable.

After graduating, I rejoined Pfizer where my role was to ensure quality chemistry in several therapeutic areas. I attended lectures by world-renowned chemists and contributed to various symposia myself. I then joined a new drug discovery group within the Medical Research Council as one of the founder members, working on difficult targets for neglected and third world diseases.

My Southampton MChem has provided a passport to a dynamic career that is both rewarding and enjoyable.
