Southampton MChem student wins organic chemistry prize in Perth, Australia

Published: 7 December 2010

Year 4 undergraduate student Louise Karagiannidis is currently on a placement with Dr. Max Massi at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia, as part of her MChem with a Sixth Month Placement degree.

Louise attended the Western Australia Synthesis and Organic Chemistry Group Symposium at Murdoch University in November 2010 and presented a research poster on her work into the design of new lanthanoid luminescent materials. Her poster presentation won her the Australian Journal of Chemistry Student Prize for an ‘outstanding poster presentation’.

It was a successful day for Curtin University, with two of Louise’s contemporaries, Melissa and Daniel, also winning awards for their oral presentations.
