PhD Studentship: "Small pore templates for new materials growth"

Published: 19 May 2011

Dr. Andrew Hector, Chemistry, University of Southampton, UK

We are seeking an academically excellent, bright, motivated individual to join the Hector group as a PhD student. The project will synthesise porous inorganic materials in forms that are suitable for the electrodeposition of other materials in the pores.  These materials will be used to test the limits of pore size into which electrodeposition is possible.

The position (available to UK/EU nationals only) is part of multidisciplinary collaboration between Southampton, Nottingham and Warwick universities.  Its multidisciplinary nature will provide an excellent training environment for learning a variety of new skills.

Ideally, the candidate will have some prior experience of inorganic materials synthesis, X-ray diffraction or electrochemistry, however this is not essential and training will be provided as needed.

For informal enquiries related to this project contact Dr. Andrew Hector by email (a.l.hector@soton.ac.uk).  You can find more information about the Hector group activities online at https://www.southampton.ac.uk/chemistry/about/staff/uccaalh.page?

For application details contact Mrs Chun Borodzicz, Postgraduate Admissions Administrator, at chempgr@soton.ac.uk.
