PhD Studentship: Discovering New Bacterial Targets for Antibiotics

Published: 9 September 2011

We are seeking academically excellent, bright and motivated individuals to join the Roach lab as a PhD student. The project focuses on the enzymes that regulate bacterial pathogenicity, with the ultimate goal of targeting these enzymes with antibiotics.

The position is part of an exciting collaboration with microbiologists at DSTL Porton Down. The multi-disciplinary nature of the project will provide an excellent training environment for learning a variety of new skills. Ideally, candidates will have some prior experience of chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology; however this is not essential and training will be provided as required.

For informal enquiries related to this project contact Dr. Peter Roach by email plr2@soton.ac.uk . You can find more information about the Roach lab online at https://www.southampton.ac.uk/chemistry/about/staff/plr2.page

For application details contact Mrs Chun Borodzicz, Senior Administrative Officer, at pgafnes@soton.ac.uk
