Ilika wins New Energy Award

Ilika, a spin out company from Chemistry at the University of Southampton, is pleased to announce that it was awarded the University Spin-out of the Year Award at the New Energy Awards 2012, a leading event in the renewable energy sector, at the Science Museum in London recently.

Ilika was also shortlisted for the Company of the Year award.

Commenting on the Award the event organisers, Vitesse Media plc, wrote:

"In a hotly contested category, Ilika stood out for the innovation of its offering, its ability to forge powerful partnerships with the likes of Shell and Toyota, and its use of venture capital and the public markets to fund its growth. Spun out of the University of Southampton in 2004, the company was considered to have made excellent progress as well as possessing outstanding future potential.

Graeme Purdy, CEO of Ilika, said: "We are delighted to have won this award and to have been nominated as Company of the Year. Since our spin-out from Chemistry at the University of Southampton in 2004 we have quickly established an international reputation for rapid development of novel materials, many of which have an application in the area of clean energy and it is pleasing to see that reputation being recognised."
