Chemistry graduating students receive their degrees

Published: 24 July 2012

104 Chemistry graduates received their degrees from the University of Southampton on 23rd July.

Graduation is the highlight of the academic year and a tribute to the hard work of our students during their time at Southampton. It is also a time for students to express their thanks to their families and to the staff who have supported them through their endeavours.

After receiving their hard-won degrees, the new graduates, parents, families and friends joined Chemistry academics and staff to attend a reception to celebrate their success  and to recognise the achievements prize winners.

Chemistry at Southampton is one of the best places in the UK for chemistry teaching and research. Highly rated for student satisfaction, Chemistry at the University of Southampton offers undergraduates a supportive and exciting learning community. It is led by research-intensive academics who are pioneering innovative ways to teach the subject.

Professor Phil Gale, Head of Chemistry said "It's always great to celebrate the achievements of our students. Today is a time both to look back at their academic and personal development made during their time at Southampton but also to look forward to their futures and the contributions they can make. I'd like to congratulate them all and wish them well as they embark on the next stage of their careers."

Our 2012 Chemistry graduates join a Southampton alumni community that is 160,000 strong and spans the globe. We encourage all of our alumni to stay connected and to continue their involvement with the University.
