Cross channel links for Southampton Chemistry research students

Published: 20 June 2013

Research students in Synthetic Chemistry got the chance to meet, listen to and talk with industrial chemists at the first of a series of Academic-Industry spring schools staged by the A-I Chem Channel Consortium.

The Consortium seeks to bring researchers from industry and academe together to work on problems of topical interest.  Staff and students from the seven partner universities and research centres were involved in the spring school along with ten industrialists drawn from different sectors of Chemical industry.

The consortium is funded through the European Union's InterReg initiative, which seeks to strengthen ties between bordering regions of different nationality.  The cross-channel partners involved in the A-I Chem Channel Consortium include the Universities of Southampton, Caen, Le Havre, Rouen and East Anglia, together with allied research centres (e.g. INSA and ENSICAEN) and development agencies (e.g. Myriad and Chemistry Innovation KTN).  Karen Woods caught up with some of the delegates before their gala dinner and produced and Audio Podcast.
