Professor Stephen Goldup from the University of Southampton has been named as one of the foremost young scientists that are transforming our world as a finalist in the UK’s 2020 Blavatnik Awards.

The Royal Society Wolfson Fellow, part of Southampton’s Functional Inorganic, Materials and Supramolecular Chemistry research group, has developed a method for constructing mechanically interlocked molecules which could become part of novel applications in drug delivery, electronic materials and sensing.

The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists recognise the innovative discoveries of scientists under the age of 42 who are already changing science and our understanding of the world.

The UK Awards will honour its laureates and finalists at a black-tie gala dinner and ceremony at Banqueting House in London on Wednesday 4 March.
