Event details

This year's Southampton Supramolecular Chemistry Symposium (SSCS-7), which was organised by Dr Eugen Stulz, was held on the 16th July 2010 at the School of Chemistry.

It was a very successful event, with an outstanding line up of speakers who presented their latest research. The speakers Dr James Tucker (Birmingham), Professor. Philippe Barthélémy (Bordeaux), Professor. Chris Hunter (Sheffield), Professor. Mike Ward (Sheffield) and Professor. Markus Albrecht (Aachen), gave lectures that demonstrated the interdisciplinary nature of supramolecular chemistry, discussing aspects of research that span from gene analysis and delivery over molecular recognition and catalysis, to the understanding of very basic concepts of physical chemistry.

A number of poster prizes were awarded at the event. For the RSC, Giorgio Mirri (Birmingham, ChemComm poster prize) and Stephen Moore (Southampton, ChemSocRev poster prize), each won a book from the RSC's supramolecular series and were presented with certificates. Jennifer Hiscock (Southampton), Salvador Thomas (University of London) and Kajally Jobe (Queen Mary London) each won the Nature Chemistry poster prize.
